Is it possible that a down-home restaurant and its server can restore your faith in humanity, even when our country seems to be about to rip itself apart? Yes, yes it is. Our family had just spent the day driving around the lakes celebrating birthdays, births, soon-to-be moms, and more and we were tired and hungry. From the very start our all-star server Cindy had us feeling right at home. She was delightful - funny, personable, and a real character. We were all in love with her. It didn't hurt that the food was great too. The prime rib was HUGE and tasty, my lasagna excellent, and everyone else raved about their dishes too.
We actually saw Cindy the next morning at another local restaurant where she committed an amazing act of kindness toward our entire family. This from a lady who simply served us our dinner the prior night. We will all be paying it forward. We left Horseheads and NY feeling great about the food and even better about people. Thank you Cindy! -

We stopped here on our way to our campground. The service was just okay. The chicken (the Hickory House specialty) was tasteless and the prime rib was grilled (not baked and then sliced). It was also tasteless. My daughter ordered a chocolate shake but they had neither chocolate ice cream nor chocolate syrup, so she got vanilla. My baked potato was baked last week some time and re-warmed when I ordered. Two of the kids had burgers, which they said very very good. There seemed to be only one woman working the front of the restaurant and she was busy and thus huffed when we'd ask for extra au jus or something else.
Definitely nothing remarkable about this place. We were sorry we stopped. -

This restaurant is within walking distance from the Rodeway Inn. I liked the pasta dishes that the restaurant serves. The dining rooms are furnished in a rustic décor. I sat at a table by a window with a view of the road.

Not much to look at, but in a beautiful location and within walking distance of our hotel. The staff was friendly and efficient and the price was reasonable. It seemed like there were a lot of locals... which is always a good sign. Would definitely stop again if I find myself in the neighborhood.

This is an excellent place to grab something to eat and feel right at home. Have had the prime rib, wings, egg rolls and few other things. All were excellent. Biggest wings I've had around! Joyce the owner is a great lady and is always happy to see and serve you. Suggest this place to anyone
